FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How often should I really change my air filters?

For most homes, we recommend changing your filter every 90 days. However, if you have pets, suffer from allergies, or live in a particularly dusty area, you should check it every 30 days. A dirty filter is the leading cause of system strain and unexpected breakdowns, so keeping it fresh is the easiest way to protect your investment.

We generally follow the “Rule of 5,000.” Multiply the age of your unit by the cost of the repair; if the total exceeds $5,000, a replacement is usually the smarter long-term investment. If your system is over 12–15 years old and requiring frequent repairs, a new, high-efficiency model will likely save you more on monthly energy bills than the cost of keeping the old one running.

This is a common issue usually caused by uneven airflow. It could be due to leaky ductwork, blocked vents, or poor insulation. In some cases, your system may not be sized correctly for your home’s layout. We can perform a “zoning” evaluation to help balance the temperature so every room in your house stays comfortable.

Absolutely. Think of it like an oil change for your car. Our maintenance plan ensures your system is running at peak efficiency, which lowers your monthly utility bills. Most importantly, regular professional cleanings catch “small” part failures before they turn into expensive “emergency” repairs in the middle of a heatwave or freeze.

Start with the basics: install a smart thermostat to optimize temperatures when you aren’t home, keep your outdoor condenser unit clear of weeds and debris, and ensure your attic is properly insulated. Also, remember to keep your curtains closed during the hottest part of the day to block out solar heat.

When it comes to HVAC, bigger is not always better. A system that is too large will “short-cycle,” turning on and off too quickly, which leaves your home humid and wears out the motor. We perform a professional Manual J Load Calculation, which accounts for your square footage, window placement, and ceiling height to ensure you get a perfectly sized system for your specific home.
